Even more heartwarming? The Spanish edition, Cómo se come un mango, translated by Ana Izquierdo, was also recognized as one of the Best Children’s Books in Spanish of the Year [2025 Edition] by the same committee.

This dual recognition is deeply meaningful to me—not only as an author, but as someone who lives between languages, flavors, and cultures. How to Eat a Mango (Cómo se come un mango) is a love letter to my childhood memories, to intergenerational wisdom, and to the beauty of everyday rituals. To have this story embraced in both English and Spanish affirms everything I hoped it could be: a bridge between cultures and a moment of quiet joy for young readers and their families.
